Abeinsa Holding Inc. and 12 of its affiliates have commenced cases (Lead Case No. 16-10790) under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code by filing petitions with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.  The Honorable Kevin J. Carey will preside of these cases.

The debtors are affiliates of debtors in voluntary cases in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and involuntary cases in that court and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Kansas.  The debtors are also affiliates of entities in insolvency proceedings in Spain.  As noted in a previous blog post, a foreign representative is seeking recognition of those proceedings under Chapter 15 of the Bankruptcy Code.

The debtors have filed a declaration in support of their request for first-day relief.  Additional documents on the newly-filed cases is available from the Court’s website.
